Mr Keith Neary, Commons Select Committee Inquiry into Free Continuing Care,
The House of Commons,
Westminster,
London SW1A 0AA

Dear Mr Neary,

subject: Select Committee Inquiry into Free Continuing Care

I am pleased you have asked Mr Derek Cole, who has assisted me over claims for Free Care, to send his commentary for circulation to the committee. As a member of the informal 'Coughlan Consortium' assisted by him I very much hope that the Committee will ask Mr Derek Cole, supported by Mr Ian Perkin, to give evidence in person. Mr Perkin is a former NHS manager who is arguing his mother's right to free care and shares our complaints about the procedures followed.

I am the editor of www.nhscare.info on which you will find expert legal advice from Mr Cole and that from others supporting our campaign such as Pamela Coughlan, David Gooch and Stephen Squires (winners of the Dorset and Berkshire Ombudsman's rulings). I was among the few who attended the small seminar on long term care in the Commons on 18th March 2003 and TV interviews.

I particularly recommend the simple overview page to all members of your committee: www.nhscare.info/overview.htm and enclose a printout here.

Yours Sincerely,

Robin Lovelock
editor of www.nhscare.info
